Maternity Photo Shoot

I really wanted to do maternity pictures with baby #2. We did not do them with Lyla and I wished we would have. Morgan, Brett's cousin, was staying with us for a few days when I was 34 weeks along and she has an interest in photography. So I asked her if she'd be willing to do a photo shoot of us in our backyard.  Even though it took all day to get the ones we wanted and bribing Lyla with brownies to cooperate, I am very pleased with how they turned out.

Baby Showers

I'm so blessed with so many wonderful family and friends to share this happy time with. I had two baby showers at school for baby girl #2. My class along with their parents, threw me a surprise baby shower the last week of school. It was so special and incredibly thoughtful of them. My staff through me and another girl who is also pregnant a shower after school one day the last week of school as well. Diapers, gift cards, and clothes were the most popular gifts we received. We are so grateful for their kindness.

On Saturday, June 2nd my family and friends threw me a small shower at my house. It was such a lovely shower. Having my close friends and family here to celebrate with meant the world to me!!

Months 5-8

The 2nd trimester was by far the smoothest and best I felt throughout the pregnancy. I got my energy back and had no icky pregnancy symptoms. We went on a trip to Southern CA when I was 20 weeks along. We had a great time at Brett's triathlon and going to the SD Zoo and Disneyland. At 23 weeks, we had a 3D ultrasound done of our baby girl. It was such a neat experience for us. Lyla and my parents were there too. I finished my school year when I was about 28 weeks along. It has been so nice having time off before the baby comes in August. Lyla and I have been spending a lot of quality time together. Around 31 weeks, I started to experience heartburn and acid reflux. It is not fun. It is usually the worst after dinner and it doesn't matter what I eat. I've been taking Zantac regularly and that has helped the situation. I am now 34 1/2 weeks and am starting to feel anxious and nervous. She is going to be here before we know it. We have the girls' room all organized and ready to go. All of her stuff is ready, I'm just not sure I'm ready mentally. My biggest fear is taking care of a newborn and toddler at the same time. Lyla requires so much of my attention right now, it's hard to imagine nursing and taking care of a newborn too. Lyla is now potty trained and in a twin bed. Two things we wanted to do before baby #2 arrives. We still do not have a name for her. We've been struggling with agreeing on one. That makes me nervous too. Sleeping has been a challenge lately. I am up frequently during the night to pee and then I can't get comfortable once I get back into bed. My feet have been hot too with it being summer and all. I am definitely ready for an ice cold margarita!!
